By using the Zakat Calculator, you agree to the following terms.
Service Description
The Zakat Calculator (“Service”) is a free, web-based tool provided by Intentional Capital that helps Muslims estimate their zakat obligations on various asset types including cash, investments, retirement accounts, gold, jewelry, business assets, and equity compensation.
Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use the Service.
Educational Purpose
The Service is intended for educational and informational purposes only. Results are estimates based on publicly available financial data and should not be treated as definitive zakat calculations. See our Disclaimer for full details.
Data Accuracy
While we strive to provide accurate financial data from SEC EDGAR, Yahoo Finance, and other regulatory sources, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data. Financial data may be delayed by up to 120 days from the most recent quarterly filing. Market prices reflect the prior trading day's close.
User Responsibilities
- You are responsible for the accuracy of data you enter into the calculator
- You are responsible for verifying results before making zakat payments
- You should consult qualified professionals (Islamic scholars, tax advisors) for guidance on your specific situation
- You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Intentional Capital shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including but not limited to financial losses resulting from incorrect zakat calculations.
Service Availability
We strive to maintain the Service's availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the Service at any time.
Data Storage & Encryption
By default, your data is stored in your browser's session storage and is cleared when you close the tab. If you enable the “Remember my data” feature, your data is encrypted using AES-256-GCM and stored in your browser's local storage. An encryption key is generated and stored in your browser's IndexedDB — it never leaves your device.
You may also create save codes to export your data as a compressed text string, optionally encrypted with a passphrase of your choosing. Save codes are generated entirely within your browser. We do not have access to your passphrase or the ability to recover encrypted save codes.
- Remembered data is automatically deleted after 30 days
- You can delete all saved data at any time using “Forget my data”
- If you lose your device key (e.g., by clearing browser data), locally stored encrypted data cannot be recovered
- If you forget your save code passphrase, the encrypted save code cannot be decrypted
- We are not responsible for data loss resulting from cleared browser storage, lost encryption keys, or forgotten passphrases
Cross-Site Data Sharing
If you choose to share your zakat results with Intentional Capital (via the “Analyze my portfolio” feature), a financial snapshot is transmitted between SeeMyZakat.com and intentional-capital.com. This snapshot:
- Contains only financial aggregates — no names, emails, or identifying information
- Is encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM) on the server
- Is automatically deleted after 15 minutes or upon first retrieval
- Cannot be recovered after deletion
See our Privacy Policy for full details on what data is shared and how it is protected.
Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
